Staff Software Engineer - Telemetry & Observability

About the role

DDN is looking for a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to help design and build its Cluster management platform. The engineer will take core projects in the observability domain, integrate proprietary Go infrastructure with open-source tools, and contribute to the global team's on-call rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain telemetry pipelines that ingest, process and forward large streams of metrics, logs and traces using Go
• Optimize the CPU and memory footprint of monitoring agents so they do not compete with core storage data paths
• Write clean, performant Go code for the Software Defined Storage control plane and give rigorous code reviews
• Help design how OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and VictoriaMetrics handle the metrics volume of the storage cluster
• Take part in the Scrum lifecycle, from design and coding to automated testing, usability reviews and release
• Document telemetry frameworks so other teams can instrument their components correctly
• Contribute to the global on-call rotation, supporting the distributed footprint with observability tools

Required profile

• 8+ years of backend development experience, at senior engineering standards
• Proven track record of building proprietary Go components and optimizing resource consumption
• Strong testing habits with unit and integration tests
• Ability to work across geographically distributed teams, with code reviews and clear documentation
• Ability to take ownership of complex technical initiatives independently
