Staff Software Engineer, Planner

About the role

DoorDash Labs is seeking a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and deployment of real‑time behavior and motion planning systems for autonomous delivery. You will work on complex urban and suburban driving scenarios, creating robust, production‑grade planning algorithms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship motion planning and trajectory‑optimization features for highly dynamic, unstructured environments.
• Automate root‑cause analysis to eliminate planner‑related disengagements and long‑tail failures.
• Build scalable evaluation, simulation, and validation frameworks for safe rollout to new geo‑fenced regions.
• Collaborate with perception, prediction, controls, and platform teams to deliver end‑to‑end autonomy improvements.

Required profile

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong C++ software engineering background building robust, production‑quality systems.
• Experience shipping autonomy or robotics systems, especially motion planning and trajectory optimization.
