Staff Software Engineer – Patient Onboarding (Remote)

About the role

Rula is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead its Patient Onboarding team, responsible for the end‑to‑end journey from first contact through registration, insurance verification, and starting care. You will combine hands‑on coding with technical leadership, driving complex initiatives and modern AI‑enabled development practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain production web applications covering registration, eligibility, and onboarding flows.
• Lead cross‑functional projects from problem definition through launch and production support.
• Provide technical direction, influence architecture decisions, and align trade‑offs with Product, Design, and Data teams.
• Introduce and champion AI‑assisted development tools to improve engineering speed and quality.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including staff‑level scope or leading complex multi‑team initiatives.
• Proven experience delivering high‑impact user journeys such as onboarding, checkout, registration, or payments.
• Strong ability to communicate technical trade‑offs and drive alignment across functions.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) as part of daily workflow.
