Staff+ Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Distributed Systems)

About the role

Anthropic is building the infrastructure that powers large‑scale AI research and product systems. As a Staff+ Software Engineer you will lead multi‑month projects that design, build, and operate the distributed platforms that train, serve, and secure our models.

Key responsibilities

• Scope, design, and deliver complex infrastructure projects from ambiguous start to production.
• Make architectural decisions that become the foundation for other teams.
• Drive technical alignment across multiple engineering groups.
• Partner with research and product teams to translate compute and data needs into reliable systems.
• Own reliability, scalability, and security as usage grows.
• Define technical strategy, standards, and operational processes such as incident response and on‑call rotations.
• Mentor engineers and raise the overall technical bar.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, building, and operating large‑scale distributed systems in production.
• Track record of independently delivering ambiguous, multi‑month technical projects.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to influence architectural direction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross‑team alignment.
