Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) - Mid/Senior

About the role

Salesforce is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers to design, build and deploy agentic AI solutions directly inside enterprise customer environments. Working as part of a delivery team with a Deployment Strategist, you co-build solutions that go live in production from day one, covering configuration, customization and full-stack deployment. Engagements range from a single large strategic customer to several accounts at once.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI agents and experiences that take real actions for real organizations, using the Agentic AI platform and current LLM techniques
• Design agent intelligence: prompts, reasoning, tool calls and integration with customer systems
• Own technical components end-to-end, from architecture choice to deployed, validated and observable in production
• Build and integrate data pipelines on Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, Databricks and customer data platforms, and model the data
• Build and maintain agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting
• Contribute to proofs-of-concept and MVPs, and co-build with customers and partners
• Share field insights with senior engineers and the product team, and partner with the Deployment Strategist to turn customer challenges into shippable solutions

Required profile

• 3+ years (6-10 years for Senior levels) of software engineering or technical delivery experience, ideally in an AI tech stack, full-stack development or frontier models
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Prior customer-facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services or forward deployed engineering) is required
• Fluent in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or Apex, and willing to expand the list
• Hands-on with LLMs and prompt engineering, and able to explain why a prompt fails
• Willing to travel about 25% of the time alongside customers

The typical base salary range is $88,970 - $287,910 annually; in California and New York the range is $97,860 - $316,750. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
