Senior Director, Forward Deployed Engineering

About the role

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Director, Forward Deployed Engineering, to lead its Agent Builder team within the Forward Deployed Engineering organization. The role provides strategic and technical leadership for Agentic AI solutions delivered directly to customers, defines the standards and operating model for agentic capabilities, and influences the product roadmap for agentic adoption. The position sits within the Agentforce leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Define the long-term strategy for Agentic AI deployments across industries
• Establish best practices and reference architectures for Model Context Protocol (MCP), inter-agent communication and AI orchestration in multi-agent systems
• Standardize the Agentic Development Life Cycle (ADLC) across engagements, oversee project delivery and ensure agents scale in enterprise production environments
• Evaluate Salesforce's agentic architecture internally and with strategic customers, partners and ecosystem developers
• Build a high-performing team delivering enterprise-ready, production-grade agentic systems
• Partner with Product, Engineering and Sales leadership on strategy and execution
• Oversee data privacy and compliance policies and partner with security and legal teams on responsible AI practices

Required profile

• 10+ years building and scaling enterprise applications or enterprise AI systems, including 5+ years in leadership roles
• Strong communication and presentation skills, able to influence executive stakeholders on complex technical roadmaps
• Ability to travel 30% of the time to customer sites

Required skills

• AI implementations: RAG, vector databases, search indexes and knowledge bases
• Distributed systems, event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing
• LLM landscape, including foundational and frontier models and their tooling ecosystem
• Multi-agent orchestration and autonomous action design

Preferred: experience with MuleSoft or Einstein GenAI Agentforce, prior experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in fast-scaling or global enterprises, and a track record of production deployments in regulated environments. The typical base salary range is $196,700-$299,390, higher in California and New York ($216,370-$329,210).
