Staff /Principal Product Manager – Data and Storage

About the role

Render is seeking a Staff/Principal Product Manager to own the vision and roadmap for its datastores portfolio, centered on Postgres. You will shape the modern managed database experience for AI‑native, full‑stack applications.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Render’s datastores, covering provisioning, lifecycle management, HA/DR, backups, scaling, connection management, and extensions.
• Prioritize data investments, balancing foundational reliability work with short‑term product and business needs.
• Partner with Engineering and other product teams to set technical direction, ensuring durability, performance, and operational simplicity.
• Develop an opinionated view on how managed Postgres must evolve for AI‑native workloads, including vector workloads and programmatic database lifecycles.
• Set standards for developer experience with data on Render, providing clear guidance, sensible defaults, and abstractions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of product management experience, primarily on databases, data infrastructure, developer tools, or platform products.
• Deep empathy for developers and customers, with the ability to make sound architectural trade‑offs.
• Proven track record turning ambiguous, high‑stakes reliability problems into clear strategy and shipped outcomes.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of Postgres architecture, operational model, and ecosystem.
• Familiarity with replication tooling and extension ecosystems (e.g., pgvector, PostGIS).
• Experience with AI‑native workloads and agentic patterns is a plus.
