Staff Physician - Ophthalmology, General/Comprehensive

About the role

The UMMG Staff Physician in Ophthalmology provides comprehensive eye care to patients at the University of Miami Medical Group. The role involves delivering evidence‑based medical treatment, documenting care accurately, and collaborating with the broader medical team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans that address biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors.
• Perform respectful and logical physical assessments of patients.
• Prescribe appropriate medical treatments and clinical drugs.
• Gather accurate patient information through record review and interviews with patients, families, and other health professionals.
• Report to the responsible physician and comply with all policy co‑signatures.
• Identify and report hazardous conditions, equipment malfunctions, or supply issues.
• Document all Quality Assurance incidents, including medication errors, following department guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Stay current with medical knowledge by attending continuing education programs.
• Make informed clinical decisions based on patient preferences, scientific evidence, and clinical judgment.

Required profile

• Doctorate degree in Medicine (MD) required.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant clinical experience.
• Relevant board certification and licensure as required by the department.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and strong communication skills.
