Staff Physician – Family Medicine (Per Diem)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a per‑diem Staff Physician to provide primary care services to a multicultural patient population. The role is 100% clinical and will be based at UHealth at Plantation or another UHealth satellite facility.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive physician care typical of a primary care clinic.
• Actively manage all aspects of patient care during assigned shifts.
• Supervise and direct clinical support staff, such as Medical Assistants, when applicable.
• Collect biological specimens and process them for laboratory testing.
• Complete charts and medical records accurately and promptly, adhering to clinical policies.
• Arrange referrals and coordinate specialty care for patients.
• Perform thorough physical examinations, order appropriate tests, and establish diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Participate in the development of clinic protocols and formulary decisions.
• Document all procedures, prescriptions, consultations, and patient contacts within 24 hours.

• Reports directly to the Chair of Family Medicine.
• Works on a per‑diem basis according to departmental needs.
