Staff Perfusionist – Full‑time with On‑call Rotation

About the role

The Staff Perfusionist provides adult cardiopulmonary bypass, ventricular assist support, intra‑aortic balloon pump support, and ECMO services at Ochsner's main campus hospital in New Orleans. The position includes on‑call rotation covering nights, weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cardiopulmonary bypass and other mechanical circulatory support procedures.
• Operate ventricular assist devices, intra‑aortic balloon pumps, and ECMO circuits.
• Perform auto‑transfusion, physiological monitoring, hemofiltration, acute dialysis, and operate blood analyzers.
• Assist with department operations, train new employees, and educate perfusion students.

Required profile

• Completion of a formal training program in Extracorporeal Technology.
• Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
• Current or obtainable Louisiana State Board of Medical perfusion license.
• Effective verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work calmly under pressure.
