Staff Engineer – Test Automation

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a senior staff engineer to lead the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for test automation and MLOps quality across its Hivemind autonomy ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical strategy and roadmap for automated testing, verification, and MLOps across the Hivemind suite.
• Design and maintain scalable test frameworks for autonomy software, backend services, APIs, and distributed hardware environments.
• Lead functional, integration, regression, system, performance, reliability, and end‑to‑end testing in simulation, edge‑compute, SIL and HIL environments.
• Build automated ML validation pipelines covering data quality, training reproducibility, model accuracy, robustness, latency and resource utilization.
• Establish CI/CD and continuous training workflows with versioning and traceability for datasets, models, configurations and deployment artifacts.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, test infrastructure, MLOps or systems verification.
• 5+ years building scalable automation frameworks or developer tooling in Python.
• Proven experience designing test, CI/CD or MLOps infrastructure used by multiple engineering teams.
• Hands‑on experience validating machine‑learning systems across data, training, evaluation, packaging, deployment and monitoring.

Required skills

• Python programming, including asynchronous and concurrent patterns.
• Kubernetes, GPU scheduling, and container orchestration (Run:ai, NVIDIA GPU Operator, Kueue, Volcano).
• CI/CD pipelines, MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases, SageMaker, Vertex AI).
• GPU technologies (CUDA, NVIDIA drivers, Nsight, PyTorch Profiler).
• Package and dependency management (Conan, pip, setuptools, Poetry, Nix).
• Linux development environment and observability tooling.
