Staff Engineer - Sage, NPD

About the role

Stryker is hiring a Staff Engineer for its New Product Development team within the R&D department at Sage Products, a business unit of Stryker. The role involves designing and developing new medical devices, from concept to launch, working closely with other R&D disciplines. It is a hybrid position based in Cary, IL.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision.
• Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions.
• Lead prototyping and testing to validate design performance.
• Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis.
• Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
• Minimum four years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience designing mechanical or electromechanical assemblies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAE tools.
• Preferred: CAD tools, preferably Creo.
• Preferred: knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, and familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment.

What we offer

• Pay range of $98,200 - $163,700 USD annually.
• Hybrid work arrangement.
• 10% travel percentage.
