Staff Business Analyst (Offline & Direct Mail)

About the role

Ethos, a life insurance technology company, is looking for a Staff Business Analyst for its Marketing team, which works across product groups and functions to shape the Ethos brand. The role goes beyond dashboards and reporting: it investigates how offline and direct mail channels perform, digs into attribution methodology and data layers, builds models and stress-tests vendor and attribution assumptions. It sits at the intersection of business analytics and data science.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively investigate channel performance and business questions, not waiting for tickets
• Dive into attribution and data layers to diagnose discrepancies, validate vendor claims and evaluate new attribution or measurement vendors
• Build models (response/lift models, allocation logic, simple regressions) to support offline and direct mail decisions
• Support the scaling of direct mail testing: manage multi-cell test mail merges and data pulls, dashboarding and analysis to guide list selection and optimization
• Develop easy-to-read dashboards and frameworks to monitor and visualize KPIs
• Communicate findings and insights to stakeholders and influence channel managers to act on recommendations

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics or data science at established firms or high-growth tech startups
• 3+ years building and maintaining BI reporting regularly in a tool such as Hex or Mode
• 3+ years of regular SQL work
• Experience building statistical or predictive models beyond pure dashboard work
• Experience with Python for data analysis and model-building
• Comfortable with ambiguous, incomplete or conflicting data; strong written and verbal communication
• A self-starter who identifies problems and opportunities

Preferred

• Experimentation and Bayesian measurement
• Direct mail, offline or other non-digital marketing channels
• dbt or data pipeline/mart maintenance
• Statistical techniques such as difference-in-differences, incrementality testing and general linear models

The US national base salary range is $127,000 - $223,000, depending on role, level and location; the range covers all US locations and does not include bonus, equity or benefits.
