Salesforce Developer
Ethos Life · Remote US
Job description
About the role
Ethos, a life insurance technology company, is looking for a Salesforce Developer to build and support the custom applications and integrations its sales, customer experience and partnership teams rely on. You will work full lifecycle, from requirements through design, build, test, deploy and support, in a source-driven, Git-based workflow with automated pipelines. You will join the Enterprise Systems team alongside Salesforce Administrators, business analysts, data engineers and product engineering teams.
Key responsibilities
- Build reliable event-driven integrations, handling duplicates and late events, recovering from failures and giving support teams clear diagnostics.
- Build and maintain inbound REST APIs and outbound callouts to external systems.
- Build and improve Apex, LWC and Flow solutions, moving logic to Apex when scale, control or testing needs require it.
- Write bulkified Apex that respects governor limits, record locks and async job limits.
- Protect personal and health data by enforcing sharing, object and field access and least privilege, and keeping sensitive data out of logs.
- Build integrations using Named and External Credentials, OAuth 2.0, Platform Events, Change Data Capture and Apex REST, designed for retries, idempotency and partial failure.
- Write tests covering behavior and failure cases, use mocks where appropriate, address static analysis findings and review code from teammates, contractors and AI tools.
- Deploy through Git-based CI/CD, manage sandboxes, destructive changes, rollback plans and the three annual Salesforce releases, and keep Git and production in sync.
- Triage production issues, debug across integration boundaries and fix root causes.
Required profile
- Typically 5+ years of Salesforce development experience, not admin and configuration work alone, or equivalent evidence of delivering and supporting production systems.
- Ability to investigate production failures, review code and explain technical decisions to business teams.
- Uses the team's AI coding tools and checks their output for correctness, security and maintainability.
Required skills
- Apex, SOQL, bulk and asynchronous processing, and automated testing.
- REST or event-driven integrations handling duplicate messages, retries and partial failures.
- Flow and LWC (modern JavaScript, ES6+), with knowledge of when Apex is the better choice.
- Salesforce data models, sharing, object and field access, Salesforce CLI, Git and automated deployments.
- Nice to have: trigger frameworks and layered Apex design, Salesforce Platform Developer II certification, insurance or financial services experience, and consent and privacy compliance (TCPA, CCPA).
The US national base salary range for this full-time position is $96,000 - $169,000; the range shown applies to all US locations and reflects base salary only.
