Staff Accountant

About the role

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. You will maintain reliable accounting records, perform key reconciliations, and work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general accounting tasks and maintain accurate financial records.
• Create and post journal entries, clear bank adjusting entries, and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
• Execute Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) checklists and reconcile petty cash and company credit‑card transactions.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable and reconcile Received Not Invoiced (RNI) accounts.
• Send vendor payment remittances and assist with month‑end reporting activities.
• Investigate general‑ledger variances to ensure a timely close.
• Gather data for cost analysis, validate percentage‑of‑completion costs, and coordinate with Contracts and Finance teams for ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Update job status and verify information in the ERP system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Four or more years of accounting practice.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
• Effective communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Microsoft Excel.
