Senior Accountant, Government Contract Accounting

About the role

Build your GovCon accounting career while helping a rapidly growing, private‑equity‑backed company expand its consulting practice. You will support government‑contractor clients, delivering accurate books, dependable closes, and clear project reporting in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and close packages.
• Handle payroll, labor distribution, accounts payable/receivable, project setup, and day‑to‑day accounting.
• Prepare job‑cost and management reports; explain results and answer clients’ technical questions.
• Apply GAAP and government‑contract accounting requirements; support audit workpapers and special projects.
• Manage deadlines across engagements and help improve how the work gets done.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with government‑contract exposure.
• Hands‑on knowledge of GAAP, FAR, DCAA, and CAS, including cost allowability and indirect cost allocation.
• Experience with Unanet, QuickBooks, Deltek Costpoint, or a comparable accounting system.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent related experience.
• U.S. citizenship, as required by client contracts.
