Staff Accountant

About the role

Charter Schools USA is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Supervisor, you will support the financial operations of the organization and its subsidiaries, ensuring accurate and timely accounting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and balance‑sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries and approve vendor bills within budget guidelines.
• Evaluate monthly income statements for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Create and maintain advanced Excel worksheets for ledger reconciliations.
• Review and reconcile AP/AR variances across entities.
• Lead monthly cash‑planning meetings and assist the Controller with cash forecasting.
• Maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system and support month‑end close activities.
• Execute ad‑hoc projects and reporting as needed.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting experience in diverse industries.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for the organization’s educational mission.
• Ability to collaborate with staff at all organizational levels.
• Adaptability to handle unique financial situations.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, complex formulas).
• GAAP compliance.
