Sr. Principal Engineer, Manufacturing Science & Technology

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer to lead multiple technical projects focused on external manufacturing partners. The role involves developing and implementing new production materials, equipment, and technologies while ensuring compliance with GxP regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee multiple technical projects, ensuring goals are met through specialized expertise and technological innovation.
• Transfer manufacturing processes and technology from R&D to manufacturing sites or between sites.
• Evaluate and manage manufacturing capacity at external partners and develop standard manufacturing procedures.
• Conduct manufacturing R&D to address cost and quality issues, and arrange equipment and tools to support production.
• Manage product lifecycles, qualify alternate materials or suppliers, and engage with partner functions such as R&D, commercial, and quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (or alternative education pathways).
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience and 5 years of demonstrated leadership.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Required skills

• Project management and advanced problem‑solving.
• Knowledge of GxP regulations, SOP adherence, and documentation practices.
• Experience with manufacturing process evaluation, capacity planning, and technology transfer.
