Sr. Plant Production Supervisor, 1st Shift

About the role

Johnson Controls Navy Systems seeks a Sr. Production Supervisor for the 1st shift at its York, PA plant. The role leads a team of welding and fabrication trades to produce large, complex air‑conditioning plant components for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with employees, remove barriers, and promote a collaborative environment.
• Coordinate daily/weekly production plans, prioritize at‑risk orders, and work with production control on scheduling.
• Monitor material non‑conformances, enforce 6S/housekeeping, and champion a safety‑first culture.
• Provide training for new hires, maintain training records, and assess staffing needs.
• Verify quality‑readiness of units and ensure on‑time starts to meet shipping goals.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and communication skills, able to guide unionized manufacturing teams.
• Experience in heavy manufacturing, preferably with welding knowledge (NAVSEA 248/278).
• Proven problem‑solving abilities and familiarity with continuous‑improvement systems (Lean, Six Sigma).
• Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 quality management systems.

• Base salary $76,100 – $95,000 (negotiable based on experience)
