Manufacturing Engineer, Compressor Assembly

About the role

Join Johnson Controls Federal Systems in York, PA as a Manufacturing Engineer focused on compressor assembly. You will support and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and low‑cost production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve compressor assembly processes, methods, tooling, and fixturing; support trials and validation of updated processes.
• Provide daily technical support, resolving issues with part fit‑up, torque, assembly sequence, material flow, machining interfaces, and heat‑treated components.
• Manage capital planning and procurement for equipment such as presses, torque tools, lifting devices, leak‑test systems, and measurement tools.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost‑reduction activities, including ergonomics, takt‑time alignment, defect reduction, and material flow optimization.
• Lead, review, and approve engineering drawing modifications through the ECN process.
• Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing support software, including routers, digital work instructions, error‑proofing systems, and tooling databases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3‑5 years of hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in mechanical assembly or rotating equipment.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with formal problem‑solving methods (8D, A3, DMAIC).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Creo).
• Experience developing and maintaining standard work instructions and production controls.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
