Manufacturing Engineer – Machining

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve machining operations at its York, PA plant. The role focuses on refining processes, resolving production issues, and driving continuous‑improvement initiatives in a manual and CNC machine‑shop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine manufacturing processes, tooling, and production controls for existing products.
• Provide hands‑on support to resolve day‑to‑day manufacturing issues and ensure stable production.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects targeting scrap reduction, uptime optimization, and cost‑reduction.
• Manage capital equipment planning, justification, procurement and facility layout changes.
• Coordinate technical support across Materials, Quality, Engineering and Safety teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3–5 years of hands‑on manufacturing‑engineering experience (or 7–10 years without a degree).
• Strong background in manual and CNC machining operations.
• Proven ability to lead lean initiatives such as 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen.
• Experience developing standard work instructions and managing supplier production startups.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lb occasionally.
