Sr. Manager of Operations Product Management

About the role

NetApp is looking for a Sr. Manager of Operations Product Management in San Jose, CA, to lead a team of Operations Product Managers responsible for releasing products from development through launch and for continuous improvement in the sustaining phase. The manager acts as the main operations interface to product and development teams, Product Life Cycle Management processes and other functions, with the goal of a successful product launch defined by schedule, availability and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Operations Product Management team across NPI and sustaining portfolio management, manage project schedules, identify risks and communicate goals to stakeholders.
• Take part in early-stage product development discussions with engineering and product management, and align manufacturing, supply chain, quality, test and service requirements with operational objectives.
• Optimize product design and architecture for cost, testability, manufacturability and quality, with dual-sourced, high-volume components.
• Set initial build plans, drive material readiness with supply chain and evaluate constraints.
• Drive sustaining product optimization and feed lessons learned back to engineering, product management and supply chain.
• Partner with the strategic sourcing team on cost reduction and component sourcing, and give DFx input to hardware engineering design.
• Develop and maintain PLM processes and policies, including BOM risk analysis, supply continuity and E&O risk in the product roadmap.
• Communicate program status and change clearly to management, presenting options for resolution in executive forums.
• Analyze P&L and ROI data, and use BI tools such as Tableau/PowerBI to deliver business insights.

Required profile

• Minimum of 15 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in electrical or computer hardware engineering, or 12 years with a master's or PhD (10 years' experience) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated team leadership, program management and/or product lifecycle management experience.
• Knowledge of electronics, electromechanical design and manufacturing processes.
• Solid foundation in hard enterprise and cloud architectures and solution strategy highly desired.
