Sr. Manager Global Cost Accounting

About the role

Amgen's Global Accounting team, spread across North America, South America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and supported externally in India, is looking for a Senior Manager Global Cost Accounting. You will supervise a team of three or more full-time and contract/temporary staff and lead accounting close and reporting activities for inventory, site support, cost of sales, reserves, standard costing and pre-approval inventory for Amgen's manufacturing network, ensuring US GAAP compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team through coaching, workload balancing and succession planning, and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with Technical Accounting and external auditors on GAAP guidance, validate variance analysis and review footnote disclosures for 10-Q/10-K reporting.
• Coordinate month-end close with finance and operational leaders, escalate close issues and support internal controls and compliance.
• Support SOX certification, audits and tax compliance, and guide stakeholders on policies and procedures.
• Drive automation and reporting solutions (AI tools, UiPath, Anaplan, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.) and manage special projects such as expansions, acquisitions, divestitures and system implementations.
• Manage the external services vendor, monitor service levels and give timely feedback.

Required profile

• One of: doctorate with 2 years, master's with 6 years, bachelor's with 8 years, or associate's with 10 years of accounting, audit or financial reporting experience.
• Minimum 3 years of direct people management or team/project leadership experience.
• Preferred: comprehensive GAAP knowledge, strong communication and project management skills, and experience implementing automation initiatives and managing outsourced partners.
