Sr Business Strategy Specialist

About the role

CB&I, which delivers integrated storage and asset-management solutions, is hiring a Senior Business Strategy Specialist in The Woodlands, Texas. The role provides direct analytical, strategic and execution support to the Sr Director of Strategy and Market Development and contributes to the broader Corporate Strategy agenda. It is an individual contributor position reporting to the Sr Director, with routine interaction with Executive Management, Commercial, Operations, Legal and Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Build financial models and scenario and sensitivity analyses for strategic opportunities, investments, transactions and alternative business models, covering valuation, cash flow, returns and value creation.
• Support scenario planning and forecasting to inform long-term strategic plans.
• Turn quantitative and qualitative findings into preliminary recommendations for the VP, stating the so what, alternatives, trade-offs, assumptions, risks and next steps.
• Translate enterprise priorities into strategic questions, choices and initiatives across business units and geographies, and help develop long-term strategic plans.
• Analyze financial statements, profit margins and variances, and build a fact base on market sizing, demand drivers, competitors, technologies, regulations and project pipelines.
• Support evaluation of M&A, partnerships and other strategic transactions through fit assessment, commercial diligence, valuation, synergy analysis and risk assessment.
• Help develop capital allocation strategies and compare competing uses of capital, quantifying opportunity costs.
• Prepare first drafts of executive and Board-ready presentations, decision papers and investor materials.
• Coordinate inputs across Finance, Operations, Commercial, Legal, Engineering and business-unit teams, and track owners, milestones and value-realization measures for strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field (MBA preferred).
• 5-10 years of experience in corporate development, strategy consulting, investment banking, strategic finance, market intelligence or a comparable analytical role.
• Experience in the construction and energy industries is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong financial modeling and investment analysis, including scenario planning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI, data visualization tools, research databases and AI-enabled analytics preferred.
• Knowledge of corporate strategy, M&A processes and valuation techniques.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex analysis to senior executives and the Board.
