Sports Instructor - Soccer

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston seeks a part‑time Sports Instructor to lead soccer and other sports classes for children and adults. Classes run weekday afternoons and weekend mornings, requiring strong communication with parents and the ability to work independently.

Key responsibilities

• Coach sports programs using YMCA curriculum and personal designs, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and core YMCA values.
• Maintain a safe playing environment, set up and clean up fields, and keep accurate attendance records.
• Provide real‑time feedback, positive encouragement, and serve as a role model for participants.
• Communicate with parents about successes and challenges in a professional manner.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of related experience such as sports coaching or volunteering.
• Energetic, motivated, well‑organized individual with a passion for children and sports.
• Excellent relationship‑building and conflict‑resolution abilities.

Required skills

• CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications (provided upon hire).
• Child Abuse Prevention Training (provided upon hire).
