Sports Instructor – Lead Youth and Adult Programs

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston seeks a passionate Sports Instructor to lead sports classes for children and adults on weekday afternoons and weekend mornings. You will deliver engaging, skill‑building sessions while fostering the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Coach sports programs using provided or self‑designed curriculum, emphasizing skill development and sportsmanship.
• Maintain a safe playing environment, set up and clean up fields, and ensure all safety guidelines are followed.
• Provide real‑time feedback, positive encouragement, and role‑model expected behavior.
• Communicate regularly with parents about progress, challenges, and class information.
• Accurately record attendance and adhere to YMCA policies on participation and safety.

Required profile

• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with children, parents, and staff.
• Energetic, motivated, well‑organized individual with a passion for sports and youth development.
• Ability to manage both small and large groups of participants.

Required skills

• CPR, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications (provided upon hire).
• Child Abuse Prevention Training (provided upon hire).
