Sports Instructor – Jr. Celtics Coach

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston seeks a part‑time Sports Instructor to lead sports classes for children and adults on weekday afternoons and weekend mornings. The role requires strong communication with parents, expertise in multiple sports, and the ability to work independently.

Key responsibilities

• Coach sports programs using provided or self‑designed curriculum, emphasizing skill development, sportsmanship, and YMCA core values.
• Maintain a safe playing environment, set up and clean up the play area, and keep accurate attendance records.
• Provide real‑time feedback, positive encouragement, and serve as a role model for participants.
• Communicate successes, challenges, and information professionally with parents.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and YMCA events as required.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of related experience as a sports coach or volunteer (preferred).
• Energetic, motivated, well‑organized individual with a passion for children and sports.
• Excellent relationship‑building and conflict‑resolution abilities.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification.
• Emergency Oxygen certification.
• Child Abuse Prevention Training (provided upon hire).
