Child Watch Staff – Part‑Time

About the role

The Child Watch Staff member provides safe, engaging care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years while parents participate in YMCA activities. Shifts are up to 5 hours, creating a fun and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the safety and emotional well‑being of children at all times; never leave them unattended.
• Plan and facilitate age‑appropriate play and activities.
• Keep the childcare area clean, free of choking hazards, and inspect for safety each day.
• Learn emergency procedures, use first‑aid equipment, and attend all staff meetings.
• Promote YMCA values and act as a positive role model for children, staff, and parents.

Required profile

• Previous experience in babysitting, childcare, or a school setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children.
• Commitment to complete Child Abuse Prevention and Respect in the Workplace training within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification.
• AED training.
