Special Procedures Technologist II – Interventional Radiology

About the role

The Special Procedures Technologist – Level II supports the Interventional Radiology (IR) team at UHealth, delivering high‑quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure. The role blends technical expertise, independent judgment, and leadership to ensure smooth operation of complex IR procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage scheduling and patient flow for inter‑departmental IR procedures.
• Supervise day‑to‑day operations in the absence of the modality Chief Technologist or Radiology Manager.
• Perform diagnostic imaging studies under radiologist supervision, adhering to age‑appropriate standards.
• Assist in education and training of new physicians and staff.
• Collaborate with radiologists and PhDs to develop new protocols and ultrasound techniques.
• Participate in research initiatives and help create research protocols.
• Monitor daily charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies for accuracy.
• Demonstrate ultrasound equipment during site visits and provide in‑service training.
• Review and verify IR exam orders, ensuring appropriateness and completeness.
• Verify patient identity, obtain consents, and integrate clinical information into exam planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in interventional radiology or advanced diagnostic imaging.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
• Strong supervisory skills and capacity to act as a team leader.
• Excellent attention to detail for order verification and patient safety.
• Commitment to maintaining high quality and radiation safety standards.
