Spanish Lecturer and Instructor Positions – University of Guyana

About the role

The International Centre of Excellence for Modern & Indigenous Languages, Literature & Linguistics (ICEMILLL) at the University of Guyana seeks qualified academics to join its Faculty of Education and Humanities. Positions are available for both Lecturers and Instructors to deliver Spanish language, linguistics and literature courses on a full‑time or part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and assess Spanish language, linguistics and literature curricula.
• Utilise innovative virtual learning modes, including synchronous and asynchronous delivery.
• Supervise student projects and promote critical thinking and reflective practice.
• Collaborate with diverse faculty members and contribute to a supportive academic community.
• Participate in face‑to‑face engagements, assessments and academic support during recess periods.

Required profile

• Lecturer: Minimum Master’s degree in Spanish (or BA with distinction plus a Master’s) and post‑secondary teaching experience.
• Instructor: Minimum BA in Spanish or B.Ed. in Spanish with secondary or post‑secondary teaching experience.
• Strong communication, cultural competence and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays.

Required skills

• Proficiency in modern educational technologies and learning management systems.
• Ability to deliver both synchronous and asynchronous online instruction.
