Sonographer – PRN

About the role

The Sonographer – PRN provides advanced diagnostic ultrasound services in collaboration with staff radiologists, independently performing procedures and serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders, operate ultrasound equipment, and ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
• Explain procedures to patients, assist radiologists in guided interventions, and perform quality control and regulatory compliance tasks.
• Support departmental operations such as inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• Completion of a CAHEA‑approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential or eligibility within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data entry for patient information.
• Knowledge of abdominal anatomy and pathology for liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas.
• Ability to operate advanced ultrasound equipment independently and assist in guided procedures.
