Software Engineer, Performance (New Grad)

About the role

Nuro is seeking a talented new‑grad Software Engineer to join its Performance team. You will help ensure the autonomous‑vehicle software runs quickly and safely by building tools, profiling systems, and driving latency‑reduction initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, profile, debug, monitor, and optimize the performance of AV software.
• Design and develop systems for memory management, thread prioritization, and process/thread lifetime management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to define system‑level architecture and core building blocks.
• Build core libraries and APIs that enable high‑performance code for autonomy engineers.
• Promote and enforce best‑practice performance standards across the organization.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in systems engineering with proficiency in C++.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
• Experience in highly concurrent, multi‑processor, multi‑threaded environments.
• Background in performance optimization and software porting across x86, ARM, GPUs, and SoCs.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
