Software Engineer – Mobile Developer (Android)

About the role

DS2 is seeking a Mobile Developer to design, build, and maintain mission‑critical Android applications for Department of Defense customers. The position is onsite in Niceville, FL and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Android applications using Kotlin or Java.
• Collaborate within an agile team to plan, review code, and integrate changes continuously.
• Produce research reports, proof‑of‑concepts, and prototypes for R&D projects.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and development tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience building Android apps.
• U.S. citizen able to complete a government background investigation.
• Strong time‑management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Kotlin and/or Java programming.
• Android development frameworks such as Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flows, Room, and Dagger.
• Experience with Android Tactical Assault Kit (TAK, ATAK, WinTAK) is a plus.
• Proficiency with source‑control tools (Git, TFS, Bitbucket).
