Software Engineer III

About the role

OCEANeering Group Enterprise is seeking a Software Engineer III to join OTECH’s underwater systems team supporting U.S. Navy and Department of Defense customers. The role offers deep exposure to the full software lifecycle for unique, mission‑critical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Apply software‑lifecycle knowledge to develop and lead software efforts, including architecture design and maintenance.
• Interface with engineering leads, program managers, and external customers to define and accept project CDRLs.
• Manage requirements, produce documentation, conduct unit, safety, and qualification testing.
• Support hardware trade studies, factory‑floor testing, and offshore software validation.
• Prepare system specifications, concept of operations, hazard analyses, and test plans.

Required profile

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of practical software‑engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Required skills

• Programming languages: REACT, C, C++, C#.
• Experience with microservices, containerization, orchestration, and UI/UX design.
• Linux OS, bare‑metal firmware, and SBC‑based control systems.
• Communication protocols: UDP, multicast, TCP, serial, SPI, I2C, CAN.
• Tools: Jira, Git, oscilloscopes, multimeters.
