Software Engineer, Dev Velocity

About the role

Render is looking for Software Engineers of any level to join the Developer Velocity team. You will design and build internal platforms, tooling, and automation that enable every Render engineer to ship quickly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Improve speed and reliability of early change feedback by investing in build tooling, caching, incremental builds, and monorepo ergonomics.
• Accelerate CI/CD pipelines, reducing build, test, and deploy times while keeping production safety.
• Make test suites fast and trustworthy through parallelization, smart test selection, flaky‑test detection, and better local/preview environments.
• Design tools for concurrent agent execution and provide agents with the right context to increase first‑attempt success.
• Automate repetitive workflows, instrument engineering metrics, and participate in on‑call rotation for critical systems.

Required profile

• Experience building and operating developer‑facing tooling, CI/CD systems, or internal platforms used daily by engineers.
• Track record of shipping, maintaining, and debugging production systems with strong software fundamentals.
• Bias toward measurement: you instrument what you build and let data prove improvements.
• Empathy for engineers and a passion for eliminating developer pain points.

Required skills

• Go (primary language) or willingness to ramp quickly.
• Kubernetes or similar container orchestration.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
• Observability tools like Datadog, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Linux, containers, and low‑level system work.
