Software Engineer – Compute Infrastructure

About the role

Render is building a modern cloud platform for AI‑native, full‑stack applications. As a Software Engineer on the Compute Infrastructure team you will own core compute services across multiple clouds and data centers, shaping the platform as it scales to millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve Render's core compute infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters, bare‑metal, and micro‑VM environments.
• Design and implement capabilities that improve performance, flexibility, and availability of customer services.
• Investigate and resolve complex cloud and compute issues from kernel to orchestration layers.
• Profile, experiment, and tune systems to boost reliability and efficiency.
• Partner with engineers across the company to ensure a stable, predictable, and secure platform.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and improve incident detection and response processes.

Required profile

• At least 7 years of experience building and operating large‑scale platform or compute infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in operating, scaling, and enhancing Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems.
• Strong ability to make trade‑offs between performance, efficiency, and reliability.
• Experience planning and executing high‑risk upgrades with minimal downtime.
