Software Engineer, Backend

About the role

We are looking for a mid‑level Backend Engineer to join our fast‑moving AI automation startup. You will design, build, and maintain the backend services that power our AI‑driven workflow platform, delivering scalable APIs and data pipelines for enterprise integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Python, FastAPI, and SQLAlchemy.
• Implement and optimise database schemas, queries, and caching for PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and synchronization services across integrations with SAP, Salesforce, Workday, and other enterprise systems.
• Connect backend services to AI model servers, vector databases, and automation workflows.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement caching, monitoring, and logging for reliability.
• Collaborate with DevOps to deploy and operate cloud services on AWS or GCP.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization (OAuth2, RBAC, SSO) and follow best practices for code quality and testing.
• Work closely with frontend, AI, and product teams to deliver new features and improve architecture.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of backend development experience, preferably in API‑centric or distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modelling.
• Familiarity with caching (Redis) and message‑queue systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or Pub/Sub.
• Experience deploying services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Understanding of API security standards (OAuth2, RBAC, SSO).
