Software Developer (Python Backend)

About the role

MANTECH, a provider of technology solutions to government intelligence agencies since 1968, is hiring a Software Developer for its Annapolis Junction, MD office. The developer works in a team focused on writing efficient, maintainable code and contributes to web applications, backend services and automation workflows. The role is full time and onsite, and the successful candidate will mainly use Python for backend development while gaining exposure to front-end technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, engineering, analysis and development of software systems.
• Help design, analyze and develop software delivery processes, including DevOps pipelines.
• Take part in software development and deployment processes.
• Work in a junior role across IT application development, taking direction from senior personnel and collaborating with other developers.
• Write clean, maintainable code in Python for backend services and web application logic.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate them with front-end systems.
• Build responsive web applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 2+ years of relevant software development experience; internships or academic projects are also considered.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to complete a CI poly; US citizenship is required.
• Able to stay in a stationary position 50% of the time and communicate with peers and supervisors.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, including scripts and backend applications.
• Git for source control.
• HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript basics.
• SQL and basic relational databases.
• Preferred: TypeScript, React components, Docker, Ansible and basic Linux administration.
