Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO)

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) to lead safety program implementation for federal facilities in the Norfolk, VA region. The role ensures compliance with Army Corps of Engineers EM 385‑1‑1, OSHA standards, and company safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Site‑Specific Accident Prevention Plans (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) for each task order.
• Authorize procurement of safety supplies and oversee safety training for direct employees and subcontractors.
• Conduct daily safety and health inspections, investigate mishaps, maintain OSHA Form 300, and track deficiencies to resolution.
• Enforce safety directives per JCFS Safety Program, site‑specific APPs, and EM 385‑1‑1.
• Provide leadership for the local Office Safety Committee and own safety execution at the assigned project location.

Required profile

• 30‑hour OSHA Construction Safety certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Minimum five years of continuous construction safety experience.
• Ability to travel up to 25% and obtain required security clearances.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
