Post Frame Construction Carpenter

About the role

Summit Contracting, a builder of agricultural structures in South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa, is hiring a Post Frame Construction Carpenter in Seward. The role involves a wide range of physical labour on the construction site, including site preparation, use of hand and power tools and job site cleanup.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare construction sites, materials and tools
• Load and unload materials, tools and equipment
• Assist with transport and operation of heavy machinery and equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Operate a wide variety of hand and power tools
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and follow instructions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required profile

• Successful completion of vocational school, technical college or an apprenticeship program, or equivalent on-the-job training and experience preferred
• Ability to work at heights exceeding 20 feet
• Ability to lift up to and beyond 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions
• Manual dexterity, good balance and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work a 40-hour week with overtime
• Ability to travel as needed and work alone once instructions are given

Required skills

• Understanding of directions and reading blueprints
• Use of hand and power tools
• OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required
• Class A CDL preferred but not required
