Shop Technician - Furniture Repair

About the role

1915 South, which owns and operates 41 Ashley stores and 4 distribution centers across the southeast, is hiring a Shop Technician in its Kernersville DC department. The technician diagnoses, repairs and restores furniture received from Ashley or returned from customer deliveries so that it meets quality, safety and performance standards before redeployment. The workplace is on site in a distribution center, working weekdays and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and structural issues on furniture.
• Assemble new components and install parts according to specifications.
• Inspect furniture for wear, damage or safety concerns and test repaired items.
• Track and manage parts inventory, order replacement parts and keep accurate records of usage.
• Report findings, repair status and recommendations to supervisors or management.
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA regulations and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Assist colleagues with technical questions and suggest process improvements.
• Prepare repaired or reconditioned products for redeployment to guests.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous warehouse, retail or related experience preferred.
• Able to lift 75 lbs and stand 90% of the time; travel 15% of the time.
