Shipping Supervisor

About the role

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all receiving and shipping activities, ensuring that goods are accurately verified, recorded, and moved according to company standards. This role guarantees the integrity of shipments, manages documentation, and leads a team of shipping personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise employees who verify, record, and prepare incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Oversee shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper condition of goods.
• Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, and orders to set priorities and assign work.
• Determine space requirements, routing, and legal load limits for trucks and boxcars.
• Inspect loading operations, seal containers, and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor material handling equipment for defects and coordinate maintenance.
• Maintain records of damaged items, discrepancies, unfilled orders, and shipping charges.
• Provide training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Minimum of 3 years of directly related experience in shipping or logistics supervision.
