Shipper Packers - 2nd Shift, WMS

About the role

Amentum is hiring Shipper Packers for its transportation warehouse (WMS) on the second shift. The packer packs and/or re-packs a wide variety of materials, checks the condition code of each item and rejects those that do not meet release order requirements, and determines the pack type according to documents and shipping instructions such as military standards, DOD manuals and regulatory requirements (HAZNAT, RAD). The position reports to a designated Lead, Supervisor or Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, examine, classify, accept, reject and dispose of material in line with DLA regulations.
• Preserve, package, mark and label material correctly according to Military Standards before releasing it to storage or shipping.
• Select the right container size and cushioning from available stock to protect the goods.
• Carry out basic inspection and examination procedures and read specifications and photographs when needed.
• May operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to load material on and off skids, pallets, stands and vehicles.
• Receive and enter data into DSS and other automated systems, and prepare basic reports.
• Count, weigh, record data, prepare and apply tags and labels.

Required profile

• At least 3 months of general work experience; no specific experience required.
• High school diploma or GED, or one year of general experience for each year of education.
• Must be able to obtain an MHE license within 30 days of selection.
• HAZNAT certification training must be passed if processing HAZMAT material.
• Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance and possible travel.
• Physical demands: lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds, stooping, bending, kneeling, working in noise and fumes, and outside work in hot, cold or wet weather.
