About the role
The Shift Manager – Asset Management leads on‑shift coordination of asset performance, maintenance activities and operational continuity at APM Terminals, especially during nights, weekends and off‑peak hours. The role ensures equipment reliability, rapid response to breakdowns and compliance with safety and technical standards.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate all asset management and maintenance activities during assigned shifts, acting as the central point of contact for operations, maintenance and vendors.
- Monitor equipment performance and availability, providing rapid response to breakdowns to minimise operational disruptions.
- Support maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving technical issues while ensuring safety standards.
- Analyse discrepancies between operations and mechanical breakdown reporting and drive alignment of downtime records.
- Review maintenance data (failure trends, repeat defects, downtime) to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate fuel deliveries and critical consumables during off‑peak hours.
- Provide timely updates, escalations and technical insights to the AM Execution Director and AM Planning Manager.
Required profile
- 3–5 years of experience in terminal operations, maintenance, asset management or heavy‑equipment environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or related technical field (preferred).
- Demonstrated continuous‑improvement mindset with ability to implement practical solutions.
- Experience working in shift‑based, preferably unionised, environments.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Required skills
- Strong technical knowledge of terminal equipment such as RTGs, STSs, MHCs.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting and maintenance planning experience.
- Familiarity with CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., IFS) and maintenance data analysis (MTTR, MTBF, downtime trends).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and data‑analysis tools for reporting and performance tracking.
