Senior/Staff Backend Engineer – Maps Platform

About the role

Radar is looking for a Maps Product Engineer to own and evolve the data foundation behind its high‑throughput geocoding platform, which handles over 1 billion API calls per day. You will work across the full geocoding stack, from data ingestion to serving, and have the opportunity to integrate AI for data enrichment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the data layer for the geocoder, ensuring reliable, accurate, and fresh location data across Scala, Python, and Rust services.
• Build and maintain pipelines that integrate commercial and open data sources, expanding coverage and quality globally.
• Incorporate LLMs and AI agents into the data pipeline for enrichment, labeling, and quality assurance with appropriate guardrails.
• Collaborate with the HorizonDB, Node.js/TypeScript API, and other components to support over 1 billion daily API calls.
• Engage with customers and prospects to gather feedback and improve the product.
