Senior VLM & VFM Field Engineer

About the role

Matroid is seeking a senior engineer to design, build, and deploy production‑grade vision‑language and visual foundation model solutions for enterprise customers. The role involves direct customer interaction, technical ownership of complex projects, and continuous improvement of the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fine‑tune, and deploy deep learning systems using VLMs, VFMs, and specialized vision models for tasks such as detection, segmentation, tracking, and multimodal reasoning.
• Lead end‑to‑end technical delivery from feasibility assessment through architecture, integration, and production deployment in cloud, edge, or hybrid environments.
• Develop evaluation datasets, benchmarks, and data‑curation pipelines to improve model robustness and accuracy.
• Integrate Matroid with customer equipment and software (PLCs, MES, SCADA, video management systems).
• Provide technical workshops, training, and documentation to help customers adopt and operate AI solutions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, AI, or a related technical field.
• Strong experience with visual recognition tasks (detection, segmentation, tracking, anomaly detection) and hands‑on work with visual foundation or vision‑language models.
• Proven ability to make architecture decisions, resolve reliability and performance issues, and lead complex technical projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to explain technical trade‑offs to both technical and business audiences.
