Senior Vice President, Higher Education

About the role

BerlinRosen is seeking an experienced strategic communicator to join its Higher Education team as a Senior Vice President. The role serves as a trusted advisor to top‑level clients, leading complex communications programs and providing strategic counsel to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as senior strategic counselor, guiding institutions through reputational, policy and industry challenges.
• Lead development and execution of integrated communications campaigns across public affairs, earned media, social and digital channels.
• Directly manage and mentor staff, providing strategic direction and feedback.
• Draft high‑level materials such as strategy decks, communications plans, messaging and op‑eds.
• Collaborate with senior management to inspire and innovate the strategist team.
• Drive new business development, identify opportunities, develop proposals and participate in pitches.

Required profile

• 11+ years of strategic communications experience, preferably in PR agencies or higher education.
• Strong client management skills and business acumen.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• Proven ability to manage high‑touch principals and multi‑task in fast‑paced environments.
• Experience leading, motivating and mentoring diverse teams.
• Demonstrated business development success.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of media landscape and strong relationships with key reporters.
• Experience engaging media for rapid response and long‑lead stories.

What we offer

• Salary range $155,000‑$175,000 (commensurate with experience and skills).
• Eligibility for end‑of‑year bonuses based on firm, team and individual performance.
• Hybrid work schedule: three days per week in the office.
