Senior UI/UX Engineer

About the role

Leidos is hiring a Senior UI/UX Engineer for its Chinook Program, which supports an Intelligence Community customer. The role turns complex mission requirements into intuitive, accessible and responsive user interfaces, working with software engineers, systems engineers, product owners and testers in an Agile environment. The position may be performed in Gaithersburg, Alexandria, Chantilly, Englewood, St. Louis or Tucson, with Gaithersburg, MD as the primary location.

Key responsibilities

• Design and engineer modern, intuitive user interfaces for mission-critical applications and translate user needs and workflows into UI solutions.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, engineers and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop reusable UI components, patterns and design standards, and build interactive prototypes to validate concepts.
• Partner with engineering teams so designs are implemented accurately and with performance in mind, and evaluate existing interfaces for improvement.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives) and help set UI/UX best practices.
• Work with test engineers to validate UI functionality and workflows, and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Required profile

• US citizenship is required per contract.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's with 6-10 years.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a polygraph.
• Strong experience building modern web-based interfaces and working in an Agile/Scrum or SAFe environment.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.
• Modern UI frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js or Django.
• CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Cloud environments such as AWS (C2S or GovCloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Preferred: RESTful APIs, Figma, Section 508/WCAG, automated UI testing (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium), and dashboard or data visualization experience.

Pay range: $107,900 - $195,050.
