Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

The Senior Tax Accountant supports direct tax compliance for Gerdau and its subsidiaries in the U.S. and Canada, handling federal, state, and provincial tax returns, provisions, and audits.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare U.S. federal, state and Canadian federal, provincial income and franchise tax returns, including estimated and installment payments.
• Analyze and file withholding tax documentation, including foreign vendor Form W‑8 reviews.
• Calculate complex tax provisions, deferred tax analyses, and support quarterly and annual reporting under IFRS.
• Serve as primary preparer for tax audits, coordinate information requests, and maintain transfer pricing documentation.
• Reconcile income tax and deferred tax accruals to the general ledger and communicate variances to managers.
• Research tax planning opportunities, credits, incentives and provide recommendations for tax savings.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in accounting or related field with 5‑7 years of hands‑on income tax experience, preferably in a multinational manufacturing environment.
• CPA designation or advanced degree preferred; prior Big 4 experience desirable.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for interaction with tax authorities and senior management.
• Ability to work independently on complex tax matters and exercise professional judgment.

Required skills

• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
• Experience with tax provision software and tax filing tools.
• Familiarity with ERP and analytics platforms such as SAP, Power BI and Alteryx.
