Senior Systems Engineer, Robotics

About the role

Stryker is looking for a curious, hands-on Senior Systems Engineer, Robotics to support the design, development, implementation and integration of features for its Mako robotic-assisted orthopedic platform. The role spans software, robotic systems, implants and surgical instrumentation, with hybrid or onsite work flexibility and 10% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Translate clinical and user needs into engineering concepts, system requirements, design inputs and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and evaluate early concepts and prototypes, and use trade-off analysis to select balanced solutions.
• Work hands-on with integrated robotic systems to evaluate performance, investigate unexpected behavior and identify root causes.
• Partner with software, controls, mechanical, platform and test engineers to bring features from concept through detailed development.
• Maintain system requirements and design documentation, contribute to requirements traceability and design control, and work with verification teams so requirements are measurable and testable.
• Interact with surgeons and clinical stakeholders through customer discussions, evaluations and cadaveric labs to understand clinical workflows.
• Analyze test and experimental data with engineering and statistical methods, and stay current on emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of industry experience in engineering product development.
• Preferred: experience with robotic, electromechanical or mechatronic systems, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting and requirements management.
• Preferred: familiarity with MATLAB, C, C++, Python, Jama or similar tools, and experience in medical devices or other regulated industries.

What we offer

• Salary of $89,300 - $148,800 USD annually.
• Hybrid or onsite work arrangement.
